Prestwich Carnival is set to return this weekend, with free family activities, live music and a parade.
The event, held in St Mary’s Park each year, is volunteer-run and will run on June 13 and 14.
In the park there will be a funfair, a mix of community, charity and commercial stalls, food and drink, free children’s activities, donkey rides and a charity dog show.
The Joseph Holt Grand Parade starts at 12pm on Sunday, June 14 and will see floats and walking groups from local schools and community organisations including Scouts, Morris dancers, fitness groups and even vintage vehicles.
Free activities for families include:
– Craft, art & candle making workshops
– Archery
– Tennis coaching
– Circus have-a-go workshops
Main stage acts include tribute acts such as Mr Tumble, Tina Turner and Robbie Williams.
On the community stage various local groups will be performing too.
There will also be a football tournament for children, archery and tennis coaching.
Throughout the weekend there will be donkey rides and children’s comedy shows too.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) advise those attending the carnival to use public transport as there will be some road closures.
This includes closures for the carnival on Sunday:
- From 10am to 2pm Rectory Lane will be closed between Clarks Hill and St Mary’s Road.
- From 12pm to 2pm Bury New Road will be closed between Tesco Prestwich and Scholes Lane.
