A nostalgic singing event will come to Bury town centre next weekend, as singers perform school assembly tunes for shoppers.

Churches Together in Bury is hosting a ‘School Assembly Bangers’ singing show at the Mill Gate shopping centre.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 20, between 12 pm and 1 pm outside TJ Hughes.

Everyone is welcome to join in with the classics being performed.

Words will be provided, but many of the songs will be familiar from childhood.

Instead of singing cross-legged on the school hall floor, the tunes will be performed to crowds of Saturday shoppers.

Churches Together is a way for different Christian churches to work side by side rather than separately.

It brings together many denominations so they can pray, plan events and serve their communities together, rather than each working in isolation.

A spokesperson said: "It is just over a week to go until our School Assembly Bangers in Bury.

"No cross-legged sitting on hard floors, but boisterous singing of those old assembly classics."
