Specialist dementia support is returning to the high street in Bury this month.
Free face-to-face clinics are being offered by Dementia UK and hosted at Nationwide branches across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and Lancashire.
The clinics, delivered by Admiral Nurses, will run throughout November and December, offering confidential, in-person advice and support for anyone affected by dementia.
Lesley Potter, an Admiral Nurse at Dementia UK, said: "We’re looking forward to returning to Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire to offer support and advice to families affected by dementia.
"Since launching our partnership with Nationwide Building Society, we have seen the difference it can make to bring specialist dementia support into local communities.
"These clinics give people the chance to speak to an Admiral Nurse about any aspect of dementia, from understanding a diagnosis to finding practical support in a safe and accessible place, helping to ensure no one faces dementia alone."
The clinics will cover a range of topics including symptom management, diagnosis, and planning for future care.
They are part of Nationwide’s Fairer Futures social impact strategy, which addresses major issues through charity partnerships, including dementia, family poverty, youth homelessness, and cancer.
Appointments can be booked through the Dementia UK website and are open to anyone impacted by dementia, including family members and carers.
Practical and emotional guidance will be available, covering medication management, care planning, and accessing community resources.
Dementia UK has also issued advice to carers, encouraging them to ask about follow-up appointments, discuss medication with healthcare professionals, and involve family and friends in conversations about the diagnosis.
They also recommend early planning for the future, including legal arrangements and care preferences, as well as exploring eligibility for financial and practical support.
Nearly one million people are estimated to be living with dementia in the UK.
Charlotte Kensett, director of customer experience and social impact at Nationwide, said: "Dementia impacts millions of families and that’s why we’re incredibly proud to have brought life-changing support into 250 of our branches and helped more than 55,000 people through our partnership with Dementia UK.
"As a mutual we believe we have a role to play in strengthening the communities we serve and supporting those most in need.
"Through our social impact strategy, Nationwide Fairer Futures, we’re committed to changing hundreds of thousands of lives for the better."
Nationwide is funding 30 Admiral Nurses and hosting clinics in more than 230 of its branches across the UK.
Twelve Virgin Money branches in the North of England and Scotland will also trial clinics from May, bringing the total to 250 locations.
