An Asda worker has been praised for her kindness after going above and beyond to support a recently widowed customer.
Saheda Bibi, 43, has worked at Asda in Rochdale since 2012.
After learning that a customer had lost her husband, Saheda promised the woman's daughter that she would look after her mum.
The daughter, who lives in London, was worried about how her mum would cope on her own.
Saheda reassured her by explaining which days she worked, allowing the customer to plan her shopping trips around her shifts.
Since then, Saheda has helped the woman with her shopping, scanning and packing her items, making sure she has a chair to sit on and finding time for a friendly chat.
The customer was so grateful for the support that she contacted store customer manager Dave Jeffs to share her appreciation.
Dave has since nominated Saheda for an Asda Service Superstar Award.
He said: "The lady told me that ever since she lost her husband three months ago, Saheda has been like a breath of fresh air in her life every time she shops – not just because of the help she offers, but as an emotional support and somebody to chat to.
"The lady's daughter lives down in London, and Saheda made a promise to her that she would look after her mum.
"The lady now comes in to shop specifically on the days Saheda works so she can have a chat.
"Saheda not only helps to scan her shopping, but insists that she has a sit down while she packs everything up for her.
"She truly is an asset to the store, and this lady's feedback only serves to compound this fact. She's a very, very kind person."

Saheda said she first noticed the customer was no longer coming into the store with her husband before discovering the reason.
"I used to see the lady come in with her husband all the time and then didn't see her for a while," she explained.
"Then I saw her shopping with her daughter, and they told me what had happened.
"I told her to come and see me every time she came in... and she does.
"We have a good chat and I help her, as she does struggle a bit.
"She thanks me every single time and I go, 'no, you don't need to thank me'. It's sweet, though.
"I like to think that somebody would do that for my own mum.
"I always think too that one day I could be in that position.
"It doesn't cost anything to be pleasant and kind, does it?"
