Indie rock favourites Courteeners are heading to Halifax next summer as they celebrate two decades as one of Britain's most beloved bands.

Famous for turning arenas and festival fields into mass singalongs, the Manchester outfit will headline Live At The Piece Hall on Friday July 9. They will be joined on the night by special guest and Halifax’s very own rising indie star Ellur, for what promises to be an unforgettable night in the historic open-air courtyard.

Courteeners show is the third announcement of the day for the summer series of concerts in the historic courtyard, following this morning’s reveals from Robert Plant with Saving Grace and Suzi Dian and Basement Jaxx.

Since releasing their debut album St Jude in 2008, Courteeners have quietly and confidently established themselves as one of the biggest bands in Britain.

The band have enjoyed consistent commercial success, selling more than one million albums in the UK, with each of their last five albums reaching the Top 5. In 2023, St Jude completed an extraordinary journey to the top of the charts, reaching Number One 15 years after its original release.
