GORSEY Clough nursing home’s cabaret act, the Clougher Bluffers, are preparing for a fun-packed Christmas tour.

Staff at the care home on Harwood Road in Tottington have been staging performances for residents there for seven years.

Since embarking on their first local tour last winter, the word has spread about their hilarious production, and they are now taking the unique show to residential homes across the borough.

The group of nine nurses and care assistants write their own scripts and make all their own costumes and props.

Adam Goldsmith, director at Gorsey Clough, said: “These shows always go down a storm and put a smile on everyone’s faces. It’s not just the residents who enjoy them, friends and relatives have started coming along too.”

This year the themes are Globe Trekkin’ and Theatre Through the Ages.

Home manager at Gorsey Clough, Collette Conway, said: “By taking the play on tour, we can provide some entertainment for the older generation, who, for one reason or another, find it difficult to get out to the theatre.”

The Clougher Bluffers have already performed at the Rose Court in Radcliffe. Their next performance will be at Killelea House on Brandlesholme Road on December 3, followed by Henry Whitehead Court on December 10, Laburnum Lodge on December 14, the Dixon Green Labour Club on December 16 and Gorsey Clough care home on December 18.
