THE vote is on a knife-edge, according to a new poll carried out for the Yes Campaign.
Their survey asked 5,000 people across the region — including 500 in Bury — the same question that will be on the ballot papers.
Some 51.4 per cent of voters who expressed a clear view support the package, with 48.6 per cent opposed. However, 26.8 per cent are still to make up their minds.
The results are fairly tight from one district to the next: in Bury, the survey was 52.8 per cent Yes, and 47.2 per cent No.
What may be significant is that six of the ten districts voted Yes, while four were against — and the TIF bid needs the support of seven council leaders to succeed.
Dan Hodges, Yes Campaign director, said: “This referendum is on a knife-edge. It’s clear that in every district every single vote is going to count, and every single voter has the potential to make the a difference.”
