A CARING Prestwich housebuilding firm has been honoured for its corporate social responsibility.

It took the corporate social responsibility prize at the annual Groundwork Environmental and Community awards.

Through all their major construction projects, the main concern of Godliman-Watson Homes has been to give something back to the local community and charity organisations.

The company, located at Elizabeth House in Bury Old Road, has raised thousands of pounds which have been distributed among Bury Hospice, Macmillan Nurses and the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Recently, to mark the opening of their new premises, the business staged a “charity gathering” and raised more than £500 in just five hours for Bury Hospice.

Last year, employees took part in a Yorkshire Dales 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Motor Neurone Disease Association. The company stresses it is committed to enhancing the quality of life for the community in future projects.

Godliman-Watson was launched more than 20 years ago by Barry Godliman and Iain Watson and the firm is an enthusiastic sponsor of Salford City Reds rugby club.

The company’s building projects have included developments at Albert Place and Hodderway in Whitefield and the rebuilding of St Margaret’s Community Centre in Prestwich.
