RESTORATION work on an historic building in Tottington has been given the green light by council bosses.
St. Anne’s Parish Hall will be refurbished to improve disabled access and provide better facilities for community groups.
Work has already begun on the grade two listed, former Georgian National School and a Victorian extension and annex.
Since the closure of the school in the 1950s, the building has been used as a parish hall and a community facility for people in Tottington.
Refurbishment of the listed school building includes: reinstatement of an historic stage door; introduction of access for disabled wheelchair users; upgrade of heating and electrics; roof repairs; upgrade to fire strategy; and re-decoration.
Work to the Victorian extension, which is not listed, includes: installing a disabled toilet and baby change facility; upgrade of catering facility; upgrade of heating and electrics; upgrade to current fire strategy; and re-decoration.
The developments are due to be completed by mid-March with a church service and opening ceremony later in the year.
