The family of a 41-year-old man who died six days after he was injured in a road traffic collision have today paid tribute to him.

Pedestrian Stuart Brown, of Grange Grove, Whitefield, collided with a Toyota Yaris on Bury New Road, Whitefield shortly before 8.30am on Tuesday 27 January 27.

He was taken to Fairfield Hospital suffering from severe spinal injuries and was later transferred to Hope Hospital where he died at around 5.45am yesterday.

Traffic officers are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision to contact them.

Stuart was born in Bury and lived locally all of his life.

His current partner, Michelle Henderson, of Grange Grove, Whitefield, has four children of her own, aged between nine and 18 months, and is expecting a fifth, which would have been her first with Stuart.

Michelle said: "Stuart was a wonderful dad and my best friend in the world. I have never met anyone like him. We were just looking forward to our new baby in three weeks time."

He also leaves behind his wife, Sarah Hindle, with whom he had four children, Elisha, nine, Ethan, six, Ashley, four, and Arron, three. Sarah said: "He was a brilliant dad and loved his children to pieces. I can't believe this has happened. He will be missed by everyone who knew him."

Stuart leaves behind his father, Keith, and two brothers and two sisters, aged between 34 and 40. His mother Alice died in 2005. He also had nine nieces and nephews.

His family issued the following statement: "We just can't believe it has happened. He was someone who would do anything for anyone."
