A MAN attacked his partner after a fall out about who cooked tea, Burnley Magistrates heard.
Stephen Lawrence Heywood, aged43, of Market Street, Edenfield, struck Deborah Birkett in the face and left her injured after becoming aggressive and screaming at her.
Unemployed Heywood, who had been out drinking, shouted at the victim to get off the computer and make the meal, the court was told.
After a trial, Heywood was convicted of assault by beating but still protested his innocence. He was given a six month community order with supervision and must pay £100 compensation and £100 costs.
Cathryn Fell, defending, said Heywood would say he previously had a drink problem, but denied there had been any violence in their relationship.
