A man arrested after the body of 41-year-old Kevin Fielding was found at his home in Bury last week has now been bailed.

Mr Fielding was found dead at his home in Cameron Street, Bury, at around 10.15am on Monday, November 30.

A post mortem revealed he had suffered a number of stab wounds.

A 23-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail until January 21 pending further inquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about Mr Fielding's death to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Marsh of Greater Manchester Police's Major Investigation Team said: "Kevin was a vulnerable man and a completely innocent victim, who was brutally killed in his own home.

"There is absolutely no evidence to suggest Kevin was targeted because he was vulnerable and I would urge the community not to be alarmed, however I know there will be concerns about what has happened.

"Please be assured we are working hard to find the person responsible and there will be extra patrols in the area over the weekend to provide advice and reassurance to the local community at this troubling time."

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4711 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
