A Bury man has been jailed for three months for breaching the terms of an injunction granted to Six Town Housing.

Christopher Acheampong, of Limefield Brow, was sentenced in his absence on November 9, although he was not arrested until November 29.

Bury County Court heard evidence that Acheampong had shouted and screamed and used foul language towards his partner, Ms Bianca Carter, in the early hours of one morning.

Six Town Housing and Bury Council had initially obtained an emergency injunction against Acheampong on August 25 after he made threats to local residents. At a later hearing on September 8, an 18-month injunction was granted and this is due to expire on March 7, 2011.

The injunction stated that Acheampong was not to cause nuisance or annoyance to any person and not use foul or abusive language, shout at, or threaten or use violence towards any person of Limefield Brow.

On the same day, Acheampong’s partner Bianca Carter was also subject to an 18-month injunction for acting in an anti-social manner on Limefield Brow. She was excluded from Limefield Brow and the surrounding area until May 9, 2011.

At the county court hearing, District Judge Duerden said the actions were made possible by the diary booklets that had been filled in by the local residents who stood up for themselves and their community.
