DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a man in his Bury flat say his killer would have left “soaked in blood”.

Kevin Fielding, aged 41, was discovered stabbed to death at his home in Cameron Street less than two weeks ago.

But yesterday, murder squad detectives launched a fresh appeal to help catch his killer after a lack of people offering information.

Kevin’s family have also paid tribute to him, saying they are “devastated” by their loss.

His mum, Christine, said: “Kevin always had time to talk to anyone, and enjoyed talking to people in the community. He made an impression on all whom he met.”

Despite having Asperger’s syndrome and epilepsy, Kevin led an independent active life.

Bury Council’s Adult Services team described him as a “gentleman, able to express his own wishes and needs.”

Kevin did his own banking and food shopping and spoke a lot about the friends he had at Bury Market. He was also involved with the Contact group and took trips and meals out with them, as well as planning his own day trips and holidays.

Det Chief Insp Pete Marsh said: “At this stage, no one has come forward as a witness and we have very little information to go on. Someone knows something about what happened to Kevin; the attack was so ferocious the offender would have left covered in blood. If anyone knows what happened or the person who is responsible for Kevin’s murder, we ask them to find their conscience and call us.”

Kevin’s body was found by his careworker at about 10.15am on Monday, November 30. He had been stabbed several times.

A 23-year-old man arrested last week has been bailed until January 21. Call police on 0161 856 4711 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111 with any information.
