A SOCCER player remains in a critical condition nearly two weeks after being attacked in Manchester city centre.

Matthew Edgington, a Ramsbottom United player, is being treated in Hope Hospital, Salford, after he sustained a fractured skull, fractured cheekbone and other injuries.

He was assaulted in John Dalton Street early on Sunday, November 29 while out celebrating the club’s 2-1 win over Alsager Town.

Regular updates surrounding Matthew’s condition are being posted on Ramsbottom United’s website by his father, John. And wellwishers have left messages on the website forum.
