IT was Members Choice on Friday evening. Programme secretary George Cruice gathered the items and presented the programme.
Opening with the Grimethorpe Colliery Band playing Danny Boy, James Galway playing Annie’s Song and Bryn Terfel singing We’ll Keep A Welcome, all selected by Monica Lynskey, Beryl Jones selected the Larghetto from Chopin’s Piano Concerto No 2.
Irene Bolesworth opted for Barber’s Adagio for Strings and Pachebel’s Canon in D; Ruth Sowden chose Bizet’s Carmen Suite No1, Peggy Carter chose Two Strauss Waltzes.
Roy Lucas opted for Cavatina from Love Story and the Andante from Piano Concerto No 21 by Mozart. George’s contribution was My English Rose and Vienna, City of my Dreams sung by Richard Tauber.
Members’ Choice allows the members to become involved and hopefully may give them confidence to present a programme of their own making in the future.
Tomorrow, Joe Sowden will present An Enigma. New members will be very welcome, call Joe on 0161 766 4744.
