TWO enterprising Bury business partners are "boxing clever" to boost trade and promote healthier eating.

Gary Price and Adam Crowley, who last year invested £40,000 to re-open a landmark fish and chip shop now trading as Kitchen 101, have launched a new "build a box" concept as well as a delivery service.

In 2014, both men rescued the former Corn Market in Haymarket Street from closure. The takeaway and restaurant had previously been owned and run by the late Fred Bowen.

Kitchen 101 comes under the umbrella of the thriving 101 Group. It marked the firm's third investment in Bury, following the opening of a bar and gym bearing the "101" name.

Gary and Adam were anxious to promote healthier foods and their team designed a menu to perfectly match the dietary requirements of their gym enthusiasts. So, last year in addition to the traditional chip shop menu, food such as porridge, granola and yoghurts were added. And the healthier options commitment has continued.

Said Gary: "I have changed the concept of the business and created a new menu called 'build a box' which has taken off amazingly. Under the 'build a box' concept, staff will break down the foods customers require to maintain a healthy diet. These include our chef's specials and low carb options."

He and Adam, who have successfully harnessed social media to spread the word and boost trade, have also introduced a delivery service straight from Kitchen 101 to customers' doorsteps.

Helping transport deliveries is a distinctive Smart car emblazoned with "Kitchen 101 Health Bar" which is raising the profile of the business.

Adam commented: "The 'build a box' is geared towards healthier eating and it's doing really well. People can order over the phone or call in. As far as our Smart car is concerned, this is beneficial in terms of brand awareness."
