SHAHID Azam, of Clough and Willis Solicitors, is the new president of Bury Local Chamber Council.

He joined the Manchester Road firm in 2005 and advises on all aspects of commercial and corporate law. Shahid succeeds Guy Freeman of Freeman Property Solutions, who is stepping down after a two-year term.

The new president said: “I have been involved with the chamber for a while now and have seen the Bury Local Chamber Council grow and develop over the years. Guy has done a fantastic job and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his efforts. I now look forward to building on his good work with the whole team who I know share my passion and drive to be a voice for the businesses of Bury and any issues relating to the town.”

Nigel McFarlane, local manager for Bury said: “Guy has been an outstanding president for the Chamber in Bury. His work with local members and our public sector partners has seen the Chamber’s stature grow both in the town and around Greater Manchester.”

Shahid will now take a seat on the board of Greater Manchester Chamber.

He is a popular and respected member of the business community both in Bury and across Greater Manchester.”
