easyJet passengers will soon be able to browse the internet, stream videos, and play games in the sky.

The airline has announced a partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink to offer high-speed Wi-Fi across its fleet, marking its first introduction of onboard internet.

The rollout will begin in the first half of 2027 and is expected to be completed by early 2028.

Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet, said: "In an increasingly digital world, staying connected matters more than ever to many of our customers, whether that’s holidaymakers looking to unwind with inflight entertainment, or our business customers keeping up to speed with what’s happening on the ground."

The new service aims to improve the inflight experience by allowing passengers to use their own devices to stream, browse, and stay connected, just as they would on the ground.

easyJet says adding Wi-Fi will appeal to both business and leisure travellers by offering greater convenience and more options during their journey.

Mr Jarvis added: "Innovation is in easyJet’s DNA and partnering with SpaceX to bring Starlink’s high-speed internet connectivity onboard for the first time will not only further enhance the experience we provide millions of customers, but means we are offering more of the options both business and leisure travellers want when they choose who they fly with.

"Giving customers the opportunity to get online in the air will mean even greater choice and convenience when you fly with easyJet.

"Ultimately, it’s yet another way we’re making travel easy."

The technology will also support new inflight services.

Passengers will be able to access flight status through the easyJet app and website, as well as look up destination information such as weather, transport, and tourism details.

The technology also allows customers to order from the inflight menu from the comfort of their seats.

Jet2 reveals new feature being added to its aircraft in 2027

easyJet is not the only airline company making changes to its fleet.

Budget airline Jet2 is set to upgrade its passenger experience with new, lightweight seats next year.

The seats will be installed on its Airbus A321neo aircraft, of which the company has been phasing in more since its arrival a few years ago.

The airline said the next-generation lightweight seats would also provide improved space and comfort for passengers.

A Jet2 spokesperson said: “Delivering an award-winning onboard experience is central to everything we do, and our new A321neo aircraft are set to feature new seats as part of that commitment to customers.”

"We look forward to sharing more details in due course.”
