RE: Cuts to Council Tax Support for Vulnerable (April 7)
Here at Citizens Advice Bury, we are very aware of the impact of the changes to council tax support being introduced in Bury.
Given the freezing of many benefits, including those supporting people in work and recent signs of inflation creeping up, this will present a real challenge for many of our residents.
We dealt with more than 8,000 debt and benefit issues last year and have a team of trained volunteer advisers supported by paid staff including highly skilled caseworkers ready to help.
Anyone worried about how they are going to manage or find themselves already behind with payments and wondering what to do can contact us.
We have a debt and benefits drop-in 10am to 12.30pm on Tuesdays at St John’s House on The Rock in Bury, as well as services at Whittaker Street with the council and advisers at Six Town Housing.
Anyone who needs help can call our advice line at a local rate on 0300 330 1153 or visit our the advice pages on our website burycab.org.uk.
We are always looking for new volunteers in all sorts of roles so if your readers are interested in supporting us contact us at St John’s or visit the website.
