RELEASED Bury veteran Efe Sodje is the new assistant manager at Macclesfield Town.

The 40-year-old, who left Gigg Lane after five years with the Shakers, rejoins his former employers to become number two to the Blue Square Bet Premier side’s new manager John Askey.

Sodje will also be registered as a player for the Silkmen and will play next season for the club who he scored the first Football League goal for 16 years ago.

The ex-Nigerian international told the Macclesfield website: “It’s nice to come back to Moss Rose.

“My job is to play and help John in any way he needs as assistant.”
