BURY Broncos returned from their game at high-flying Little Hulton Reds with a 33-12 victory and a place in the play-off positions in North West Division Four.

A cagey opening 20 minutes saw the Broncos pile the pressure on the home side, but resilient defending left them with nothing to show for it until a Chris Ready drop goal gave them the narrowest of 1-0 leads.

Bury ran in two more tries in the next 10 minutes with Lee Salisbury managing to break his way through to score, and then Rick Brogan crossing the whitewash in the corner for his 12th try of the season.

After being awarded five straight penalties, Little Hulton brought the score back to 11-6 as Alan Hargreaves grounded a Lee Foster kick just before half-time.

They kept the momentum going after the break, with Sean Foster grounding under the sticks.

Bury battled back and captain Martin Wilcock restored their lead to make it 15-12.

A quick-thinking advantage play saw Adam Radford make good ground, offloads from him and Rick Brogan saw West put through to finish a fantastic team try.

Wilcock then produced a finepiece of skill, popping the ball out of the back of his hand to Salisbury who went through for his second of the game.

It was left to Blake Roberts to go over the line and give the scoreline a flattering look.

Elsewhere, runaway league leaders Rylands Sharks beat the open age second team 70-4 with Danny Holden scoring their only try of the game.

The u16s travelled to Culcheth Eagles and put in a fantastic performance to win 34-14 against a well-established side with scores from Noah Marshall, Jack Rigby (two), Alex Light (two), Joe Kelly and Ryan Peak.

The u10s travelled to Widnes Moorfield and saw Blaze O’Brien score their only points of the game, converting his own try in the 64-6 defeat.
