BURY succumbed to their second successive inter-league defeat to their Bolton rivals when the junior team were beaten 209 (D)-190 at Bolton Cricket Club.

That was in the wake of the over-45s’ reverse the previous week.

The Bury youngsters were forced to follow on when their first-innings score of 118 fell well short of the hosts’ 182.

All but one of the Bury batters survived in the first innings, but the local girls found it difficult to score freely.

This was apart from Beth Rector, who scored two rounders on her way to 24 and final batter Megan Olphert who notched one rounder in her 21.

Jade Edmundson (16) and Deanna McDougall (13) also reached double figures.

In their second innings, Bury’s Charlotte McKenzie scored the only second-innings rounder and was denned for 14.

Lauren Bond, with 12, was the only other player to reach double figures as the Bolton girls dismissed their opponents, leaving themselves needing just nine runs for victory.

Bolton then batted once each and sportingly declared on 27 to win the game.

The Intermediate Interleague (18-25 age group) will be played at Bolton Cricket Club on Friday, 7pm start.
