GOALKEEPER Trevor Carson looks to be on his way out of Gigg Lane as Bury boss Kevin Blackwell continues to revamp his squad.

The 25-year-old former Sunderland stopper is understood to have agreed a deal to leave the Shakers after falling down the pecking order.

“There’s a possible club come in for Trevor and he agreed a deal, we think, on Friday and I believe it will be concluded on Monday so we will just have to wait and see,” said Blackwell, who left Carson out of his matchday squad for Saturday’s League Two opener at home to Chesterfield.

Carson is one of only six players left in the Shakers set-up from last season, with two others - defender Adam Lockwood and midfielder Shane Byrne - also having been told they are surplus to requirements.

“We are trying to still make sure that the financial overhang from last season is dealt with," added Blackwell.

“We have tried to move on the heavy earners to make sure the club is sustainable.

“Trevor was one of the heavy earners and we will see what happens.”

Former Wanderers keeper Rob Lainton started for Bury against Chesterfield, with ex-Arsenal trainee Reice Charles-Cook named on the bench.
