HUDDERSFIELD Under-21s captain Jordan Sinnott became Bury’s 19th summer signing yesterday after joining on a six-month loan.

Shakers boss Kevin Blackwell made his move for the 19-year-old midfield playmaker – son of former Terriers defender Lee Sinnott – to add creative flair to the centre of the park.

Blackwell admitted frustration at his lack of options late in Tuesday night’s impressive 3-2 victory over League One side Crewe in the Capital One Cup.

“We are light in the centre of midfield and I thought that was exposed a little bit as we bid to defend our lead against Crewe,” said the Bury manager.

“Euan Holden has done fantastically well for us, but we know all about his limitations.

“We needed someone who could hold the ball a little bit better and not give it away, but our only two central midfielders – Holden and Andy Procter – were on the park.

“I had to send on John Rooney, but he is more of a striker.

“Young Jordan will give us something a little bit different – he’s more creative and a good passer.

“He has played a handful of games in the Championship and the FA Cup for Huddersfield and has done well for them in pre-season.

“When we got in touch with Mark (Robins, Huddersfield manager) he had decided to oversee his development in the first team, but let us have him because we were local and he could keep a close eye on his progress.”

Blackwell says he hopes to bring in at least two more players before the transfer and loan windows close, but it is understood that further movement will depend on the future of keeper Trevor Carson.

The Northern Ireland international, thought to be one of the biggest earners on the Bury books, was expected to sign for Bradford City on Monday, but news on that deal has now cooled.

If that move can be resurrected, Blackwell is expected to offer a contract to former Burnley stopper Brian Jensen, who has been training with Bury.

The Shakers manager will then turn his attention to recruiting another central defender after number one target, former Bury loanee Stephane Zubar, was ruled out after he suffered a serious knee injury playing for Bournemouth in pre-season.
