YWCA Bury could only field a small squad of players at home to Warrington on Saturday but put in a fine team performance to record a 50-42 victory.
The visitors went into the game in fine form and may have fancied their chances with Bury only able to name one substitute.
But the home squad rotated well on the day, with each player switching to a variety of position as coach Ruth Moreno rotated them to conserve energy.
From the first whistle, Bury came flying out of the traps and demonstrated some fast attacking play and impenetrable defence.
By half time they had opened up a 15-goal lead and were fully in control.
Warrington showed real determination in the second half and started to claw back the deficit.
Tired legs were certainly a factor but every Bury player gave 100 per cent, especially when ????? was forced from the court with a broken wrist.
The closing stages were intense as the match descended into a battle on the court.
Fortunately, Bury held their nerve and maintained their energy levels to run out eight-point winners.
Club captain Clare Morley put in an outstanding performance to earn player of the match as third-placed Bury closed the gap to Blackpool, second in the North West Seniors Premiership, to two points.
YWCA Bury: Clare Morley, Tyrene Karim, Vicky Thornton, Lucy Luketti, jenny cross, Rachel Newbold, Sally pawlik, Sascha Eady.
The Championship side travelled to Wright Robinson in their regional league fixture against Denton and came away 42-28 winners. Lucy Vernon and Natalie Kerrigan were voted joint players of the match by the opposition.
