YWCA Bury will play their netball in National Premier Division Two next season, after securing their second straight promotion with a 61-39 victory at Hertford Hornets at the weekend. A frantic opening to the game saw several turnovers on both sides before Bury found their rhythm and established an 18-10 lead by the first break. An extended delay during the second quarter, caused by repairs being carried out on a faulty net, did not stop the Bury side’s relentless progress and by half time they were firmly on course for the victory they needed, leading 34-16. Hertford began to ask questions of their visitors in the second half but Bury went into the final period still 18 points ahead. And, with player-of-the-match Caitlin Sharkey ending the game with 21 goals from 21 attempts, Bury’s 90-per-cent shooting accuracy throughout saw them run out comfortable winners
