TWO Bury AC members competed at the Tatton Park festival of running last weekend with Hannah Price recording a new personal-best time in the 10k race.

Going into Saturday's race she was yet to break the 40-minute barrier and while colleagues knew she was capable of achieving a sub-40 performance, her finishing time of 38mins 15secs underlined the massive improvements she is making.

The time was good enough for 12th place overall and she was only the third woman to finish.

The modest athlete underplayed her performance, but it is the fastest by a Bury female athlete in more than 10 years.

On Sunday, Byron Edwards competed in the half marathon and was a little disappointed with his time of 1:20:11, but it was good enough for fifth place and second V45 finisher.

The men’s team captain commented that as the field quickly spread out, it felt more like a hard training run than a race.

He omitted to mention that having completed two marathons in the last five weeks it was understandable his legs would be a little heavy.

Steve Parker had a fantastic run in the Flying Fox 10-mile road race.

His time of 1:20:13 was a new PB and secured him 15th place in his age category.

Fran Pearson travelled much further afield than her colleagues, making the trip across the Atlantic to compete in the iconic New York Marathon.

She demonstrated that her training has been going well by ducking under the four-hour barrier with an excellent finishing time of 3:57:55.
