RUNNERS from Prestwich AC took part in their first championship race in two years when they attended the Hit the Trails race in Stockport.

Sunday’s five-mile race in Reddish Vale was put on by Belle Vue Racers and the route, that is muddy even on a dry day, did not disappoint.

Sixteen Prestwich runners took part and Matt Brennan was their first male runner home in seventh place.

Alia Braithwaite was the club’s first female home, eighth female overall.
