IT was a winning weekend for Radcliffe AC members.

Jenny Yates and Sheila Jones both won their age groups at the Trimpell 20 Mile, part of their preparation for the upcoming Manchester Marathon.

Yates was first VW55 in 2hrs 39mins 41secs, while Jones ran 3:00:23 to claim the VW65 category.

The club’s wins continued when Donna Cartwright was third lady and first VW45 over a variety of challenging terrain at the Skinningrove At The Double Fell Race. She had a superb run over the seven-mile course, with 1,100 feet of climbing, in the Esk Valley, West Yorkshire.

Despite being a fell race, it included a windy coastal path section which was followed by a climb in over the fell to a trig point. There was also a cross-country section with thick mud and a strength-sapping climb over sand dunes to the finish.

Four Radcliffe Runners took on the tough 9k Roddlesworth Roller Trail Race in Chorley.

John Gibbs was 21st in 38:53 over an undulating course through the woods above Abbey Village. Rob Lister was first VM55 in 41:11, Mia Derbyshire ran 45:26 and Ian Swan clocked 46:30.

At the Chester 10k, Elaine Bailey ran 57:32, followed by Emma Wolstencroft in 59:23.

Gary Adkins was third at Heaton parkrun in a new personal-best time of 18:10, while Rob Shiels was first VM45 in 20:16, Sheila Jones was first VW65 in 23:12 and Bev Quinton clocked 39:01.

At other parkruns, Peter Hunter clocked 24:26 at Burnley, Rob Lister ran 29:25 at Peel, and Alison Howarth and Cheryl Gallagher ran 27:50 and 33:04 respectively at Worsley Woods.
