KRIS Holt is confident Bury AFC will get it right for Saturday’s FA Vase quarter final showdown at Congleton Town.

Bury go in to the biggest game in the club’s history on the back of arguably their most disappointing result of the season - a 1-1 draw at home to bottom-of-the-table Ashton Athletic.

But while Holt admitted players were disappointed and down immediately after Tuesday night’s game, he is expecting a positive reaction against their NWCL Premier Division rivals knowing they are just two wins away from a trip to Wembley Stadium.

“We are better than that, we know we are better than that and the lads will get it right on Saturday, I have no doubt about that,” he told the club’s Facebook page.

“It is a natural reaction when something like that happens, you want to put it right, you want to get back on the field as soon as possible and Saturday is the first opportunity to do that so we will be training on Thursday and we will continue working.”

Holt put Tuesday night’s result - where Lewis Gilboy scored an equaliser -was one of those things and said the point may prove vital come the end of the season.

That comes after Saturday’s 2-0 win against Northwich Victoria, Niall Cummins and Harry Brazel getting the goals.

“We were not at the races but these nights happen, it’s football, we move on and we have a quick turnaround to a big game on Saturday,” he said.

“It is a tough one to take, the lads are all down but we have got to bounce back, there are plenty of games yet.

He added: “Some times it doesn’t happen and a point is better than no points and at the end of the season you might be saying it is a good point at home.”
