Prestwich Heys to play Trafford in Macron Cup clash

Prestwich Heys have been drawn at home to Trafford FC in the opening round of next season’s NW Counties League Macron Cup.

The draw was made at the League’s AGM on Saturday with teams from across all three divisions placed in geographical groups, with Heys in Group C.

Trafford were relegated from the Northern Premier League Division One West last season and will line up in the Premier Division of the NWCL with Heys, with their meetings set to be the first time they will have ever played each other.

No date has been fixed for the cup tie as yet.

The full draw for the opening round of the competition is as follows:

Group A: Squires Gate v Exuton Villa, Fulwood Amateurs v Colne, Bacup Borough v Thornton Cleveleys, Steeton v Nelson, Barnoldswick Town v AFC Blackpool, Charnock Richard v Longridge Town, Holker Old Boys v Garstang.

Darwen FC receive a bye.

Group B: MSB Woolton v Ashville, Halewood Apollo v Ashton Town, Litherland REMYCA v Ashton Athletic, FC Isle of Man v Widnes Town, South Liverpool v FC St Helens, Maghull v AFC Knowsley, Burscough v Cammell Laird 1907.

AFC Liverpool receive a bye.

Group C: Daisy Hill v Barnton, Abbey Hey v Atherton LR, Ramsbottom United v Cheadle Heath Nomads, Flixton v Uppermill, Irlam v Glossop North End, New Mills v Maine Road, Droylsden v Chadderton, Prestwich Heys v Trafford.

Group D: Market Drayton Town v Allscott Heath, Wednesfield Community v Dawley Town, Stafford Town v Bilston Town, Foley Meir v Wolverhampton Casuals, Crewe v Brereton Social, Telford Town v AFC Bridgnorth, Eccleshall v Shawbury United, Sandbach United v Alsager Town.

Fixtures for the NW League season itself are expected in early July, with an initial batch of August fixtures followed, as is usual, later by the full fixture list.

The season itself starts on Saturday 1st August.

Meanwhile, Heys have applied for the FA Cup and FA Vase and Friday 26 June 2026, will see the release of the list of clubs accepted into each competition, along with the list of clubs to receive exemption into later rounds.

Next Friday, the draws for the Emirates FA Cup – Extra Preliminary Round & Preliminary Round and FA Vase – First Round Qualifying & Second Round Qualifying will be announced.
