SNOOKER: Radcliffe Central C top the Bury Bed and Pine C Section after a 7-2 win at Tottington B. Paul Lopez, 79-45, won most convincingly, while the two Daves, Brooks and Allen, were the home sides successes. Totty B were indebted to John Mawdsley, 75-42, and Sid Bailey, 75-46 in their 6-3 win at Buchanans. Stanley B overcame Huntley B 6-2, in a close match, with no player winning by 20 or more, two frames going down to the final black. Graham Spencer is in fine form at the moment. His first frame 95-40 win proved the difference between the teams in their 5-3 victory over Walshaw. Earlier in the week, he opened with a 90-40 frame as the Bridge defeated Tottington B by a similar scoreline. Jim Garvey’s opening frame 71-27 set St Mary’s on the way to another 5-3 result, against Seedfield B. Fishpool moved up to second in the Irwell Street Metals A Section with a 6-2 win, at home to Salisbury. A solid team show, rather than individual brilliance saw them take the first four frames. Mark Burns’ 87-44 win helped Bury Snooker C to a share of the points with Elton Lib C, despite winning only one other frame. Huntley stay top, with a 7-2 win at Elton Lib D. Radcliffe Central A top the Bath Shoppe B Section thanks to a 7-2 win at last week’s leaders Bury Snooker D. In-form Chris Taylor notched two breaks of 28 in his opening frame win, while Carl Howard cleared the colours in his 77-34 victory for the home side. Seedfield A beat Buchanans A 7-1. Most of the frames were fairly close; with the visitors solitary success, 85-49 by Mick Hamer, the best of the night. Tottington C looked to be heading for defeat at Huntley C, 4-1 down and over 50 chalks behind, before Sean Hodgkinson took the final frame 78-15 to give the visitors a 5-4 success.
