BOXING: Scott Quigg is confident of a glittering future after signing up with Ricky Hatton’s new promotions company.

The Bury-born ace, who has a 100 per cent record from his 12 fights to date, has been snapped up by The Hitman and is confident his new manager can take him all the way to the top.

“It’s an exciting time,” said the 20-year-old super-bantamweight. “It’s the right deal at the right time. It’s not about money. It’s the fact that this new venture has the right ideas and will manage my career in the right way.

“I will be fighting all over the UK and building up a fan base. There may even be fights for me in the USA at some point.

“Ricky and his team have good contacts and they will open plenty of doors for me.

“They are not signing up mugs. They only want people that can go places – and I am glad I am one of those fighters.”

Whitefield’s Rhys Roberts has also been signed up by the Hatton camp, and Quigg’s next fight will be on March 28 in Altrincham.
