SUPER-sub Kyle Bennett scored his first two goals in league football – and then dashed off home to record the highlights.

But the 20-year-old winger, who turned the game on its head in the space of eight second half minutes, admitted he did not know how to celebrate his brace of strikes.

With Bury trailing to Shaun Miller's strike, Bennett and Andy Bishop were summoned from the bench with thirty minutes left to play and both had immediate impacts with the latter laying on three assists.

The icing on the cake came in the 76th minute when striker Ryan Lowe netted for the seventh successive game to equal a 53-year-old club record and ensure a crucial three points in his side's battle for promotion.

But the real hero of the hour was Bennett, who said: “I think I will be ordering a dvd of that game from the gaffer, and I'll probably be 'sky-plussing' it too – that's if my mum hasn't already done it.

“It feels great to get my first two goals in league football and for them to be in a victory makes it extra special. I feel like I have contributed to the team.

“I haven't scored many goals to know how to celebrate properly – I just tried to soak it all in really. Maybe I will have to work on that in the future.”

Bennett certainly breathed fresh life into a game that looked increasingly likely to be a victory for the visitors.

Miller's 41st minute strike was the highlight of a poor first half as he latched on to a ball over the top and held off the challenge of Efe Sodje to coolly slide the ball under Cameron Belford.

Nothing seemed to be going right for the Shakers until an inspired double substitution from Knill seized the initiative back.

Within four minutes of coming on, Bennett pounced on a ball in the box to rifle home, via a wicked deflection, and change the course of the contest.

If there was an element of luck about his opener, his second was nothing short of magical as he picked up the ball on the edge of the area and rifled home with all the confidence of a seasoned pro.

The stage was set for Lowe to seal a grandstand finish, and he did so with aplomb by also cutting inside to smash home and leave the Alex keeper with no chance.

Cameron Belford had to make smart saves from Danny Shelley and Matt Tootle to preserve Bury's advantage, but the day belonged to Telford-born Bennett, who will be hoping to land a starting spot when his team play on his doorstep in Shrewsbury on Tuesday evening.

“I went in to see the manager in the week, to check where I was at, and he told me to keep working hard and to be patient,” revealed Bennett.

“He picks the team and we have a lot of points on the board so I can't complain. I will just do my talking on the pitch and try my best to play in the big games – especially the one at Shrewsbury!”
