DAVID Worrall insists Bury will not have any regrets at the end of the season after declaring war on the automatic promotion places.

Steven Schumacher's brace and another goal for Ryan Lowe helped the Shakers to another three points on Saturday, with victory lifting them into second place in League Two.

And Worrall is determined that, after two near misses in recent seasons, this will finally be the year that Alan Knill's men seal promotion.

“We are just going to go for it now, in every game,” the young winger said. “We are up there with a great chance, it is in our own hands really, and it will be nobody's fault other than our own if we don't go all the way.

“We just need to keep getting three points every weekend and see where we are at the end of the season – hopefully it will lead to automatic promotion.

“We are building up some momentum and I think we are on more points at this stage than we were last season.

“I think we have a better team too, one that is young, will improve, and, more importantly, we are all in form.”

Bury got off to the perfect start when, in the third minute, Schumacher's swerving free-kick proved too hot to handle for Bulls keeper Adam Bartlett.

Hereford, however, slowly woke from their slumber and Kenny Lunt, Harry Pell and Richard Rose all went close, only to find Cameron Belford in inspired form.

At the other end, Kyle Bennett was causing problems and his 25-yard shot was tipped wide.

Waide Fairhurst's shot tested Belford after the interval, but any thoughts the Bulls had of a comeback were dashed in the 50th minute when the ball was played into Schumacher and the midfielder placed his second goal of the match into the bottom corner from 18 yards out.

That killed the game as a contest, with the home side struggling to carve any meaningful opportunities while, at the same time, mindful of being caught out by Bury's incisive play on the break.

The icing on the cake came in the 86th minute when Schumacher's free-kick was played into Lowe and the striker calmly fired home his 24th goal of the season.

It also extended his amazing club-record scoring sequence of having found the net in nine consecutive matches.

His goals will make the headlines, but Schumacher's all-round performance was exceptional and he was at the heart of everything good in another dominant Shakers performance on the road.

Bury will be hoping to consolidate their place in the automatic promotion places when they welcome Morecambe to Gigg Lane on Tuesday evening.
