SCOTT Quigg will get his chance to fight British and Commonwealth champion Jason Booth before the end of September.

The British Boxing Board of Control have ordered that the two must fight, and are inviting purse bids from promoters who wish to stage the clash.

In the meantime, 22-year-old super-bantamweight Quigg will defend his WBA Intercontinental title at the town’s Castle Leisure Centre on Saturday, July 23.

It will be the last time he fights in his home town for a long while, with his promotions team hoping he will one day return to fight for a world title at Bury Football Club’s Gigg Lane ground.

“This is the last time Scott will box a small hall show for some time, so it will be a great occasions with a spine-tingling atmosphere,” said his promoter, Ricky Hatton.

“We could have had this fight on one of our televised cards, but Bury Council have been fantastic and the fans amazing so we owed it them to bring another of Scott’s fights to the town.”

Tickets, priced between £35 and £75, are already selling fast and can be purchased by phoning 0161 775 7500 or visiting www.brandhatton.com.

Before then, however, fans can meet Quigg and a host of other professional fighters at The Body Power Expo on Saturday at Birmingham’s NEC.
