IT was a double family success for Radcliffe AC’s Donna Cartwright and daughter Jenna when they raced at Wigan on Sunday.

Donna was fourth lady and first vet-35 in the undulating 10k Amberswood Trail Race with a time of 44mins 50secs.

Meanwhile, 12-year-old Jenna ran the 2.5km event and came home in fourth place in her age group and won herself a medal.

Donna, showing she is maintaining her fine form so far this season, particpated in only her second fell race this year, following her first the week before when she was third lady in the 4.5-mile Bamford Fell Race.

Four members took to the trails in Wales on Saturday, running a very hilly and boggy Big Welsh Trail half marathon in the Coed LLandegla forest area with Shaun Boult, back from injury, coming home first for Radcliffe in 1:58:07 and finishing 47th out of a large field. Next home was Kath Davies, back after illness and clocking a creditable time for a testing course of 2:16:14 . Mauro Rotondi was next home in 2:18:19 ,followed by vet-65 Eileen Royle, who was first in her age category in 2:22:35.

Four members ran the six-plus mile Edenfield Race on Sunday which included a tough 1,500ft climb. David Ward was first home for the club followed by George Critchley, who found himself in some of the course’s boggy areas. Paul Swyers was next in with Mark Wolfenden following.

John Scarlett has been a busy racer taking in three recent 10k events. He took part in the Great Manchester Run, clocking 44:04; the Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10k, running a fine 42:08 and, this weekend, ran the Pennine Lancashire 10k at Burnley on a hilly course, clocking 43:38.

In two weeks he is competing in the Freckleton Half Marathon.
