RADCLIFFE Athletic Club's Kris Lee beat his previous best by more than an hour at the Chester Marathon on Sunday.
Lee clocked a fine 3hrs 41mins 25secs in only his second marathon, one hour and four minutes faster than his first attempt at the distance on a course billed as a fast one, starting and finishing at Chester Racecourse.
Unfortunately, his training partner and club-mate Kris Booth had to pull out at 18 miles with a hamstring injury.
Neal Emmerson was 10th out of a field of 317 runners in the Rivington Trail Half Marathon, finishing in 1:31:43.
Ian Warrington was 22nd in 1:36:17 and Paul Swyers (V50) clocked 2:09:27 in his first run for eight weeks.
Caroline Mullineaux ran 2:23:59 and Beverley McGrath (V45) 2:35:55.
Lisa Carter enjoyed a trip to the Lake District, clocking 1:33:00 in the Coniston 15k Trail Run. Louise Bowden ran the 10k trail event and was the 15th woman home in 1:03:43.
In the popular 5k parkruns, Rob Lister finished the Lancaster event in 22:31 while Vince Ashton ran 25:06 at Stamford Park in Stalybridge to finish 22nd overall and fifth vet-40.
At Heaton Park, Nick Barnes ran 23:02, followed by Sheila Jones (V60) in 23:04. Carly Rourke had a personal best with 24:04, while Shaun Boult ran with his partner Tanya and they clocked 29:47. Tammy Oluyori clocked 29:55 and Iain Harris (V65) finished in 31:41.
Ken Smith (V55) ran 23:45 at Leverhulme Park, followed by Eileen Royle (V65) in 26:59, while Wayne Holden had a personal best with 29:26.
