Bury motorcycle racer Nige Pitt has entered his second full season of racing this year, competing at Thundersport GB in the Pre-National Sport 600 class.
This class is specially designed for riders in their first few years of racing, to give them the necessary experience to move up the ranks.
Competing at Thundersport GB takes Team Pittys Custom Vinyls Racing to some of the most famous race circuits in the country.
The season opener at Brands Hatch in March saw surprisingly good weather and a great weekend of racing ensued in all classes. After qualifying P25, Pitty managed to finish 22nd, 19th, 24th and 16th over the weekend.
Round two saw Pitt at the famous 2.5 mile Donington Park GP circuit for yet another dry weekend’s racing, contrasting to last year when the team arrived in the snow.
Hard fought racing throughout the field was the order of the day as always, and Pitt finished the four races in 25th, 24th, 25th and 20th places respectively.
In May, the team headed off to Snetterton, Pitt had really struggled with this circuit on his first ever visit last year, but was looking forward to the challenge.
Continuing the team’s effort to learn and improve at each and every round, a pit board was used for the first time. The additional information available seemed to work wonders for Pitt, who qualified in 20th place. It also proved invaluable during the racing too, bringing home solid top 20 finishes of 16th, 18th, 20th and 17th.
Team Pitty’s Custom Vinyls Racing head to Oulton Park in Cheshire tomorrow and Saturday. With just a half day’s testing prior to qualifying on Friday, the heat will be on to perform and continue the recent top 20 finishes, aiming of course for those Championship points for the top 15 places.
