BURY Snooker League A Section side Tottington D finally tasted defeat, going down 7-1 at the hands of Huntley A.

The star men for the winners were Tony Walsh, who won 97-37 and Malc Caunce who enjoyed a 94-15 success.

This gave Bury Snooker B the opportunity to close the gap and they duly obliged with a win at Buchanans A. Comeback kid Gareth Haynes won 77-35 as Bury won 7-2. Bury Snooker D beat Fishpool 5-3 with Mark Turner unbeaten since handing over the league secretary’s position with a fine opening win, 136-32, and Dale Jones’s 96-30 success setting up a comfortable win.

Radcliffe Central A won four frames at Salisbury but the match finished all square thanks largely to Mick Burke’s exceptional 117-20 win.

Radcliffe Central C are top of a tight B Section, despite losing to Stanley who continued their resurgence with 5-3 win in a closely-contested game.

Radcliffe Central D ended Huntley C’s three-game winning sequence in style with a 7-1 victory, Warren Davies getting the ball rolling with an opening-frame 101-54 result.

Bury Snooker C completed the treble for the club when they edged out Elton Lib C 5-3. A fourth-frame 60-26 win for Chris Booth proved decisive as the aggregate was taken by 18 chalks. Buchanans B hosted Whitefield A and the visitors took the match 7-2 to make it four home games without a win for Buchanans, while Whitefield’s first win in four took them off the foot of the table.

Radcliffe Central B lead the way in the C Section after beating Huntley B 6-2. Andy Eckersley produced the highest break of the week with a tidy 42 on the way to sealing his frame.

Seedfield B recorded a fine 7-1 win against visitors Bury Bridge. Bill Mitchell led the way with 65-27 victory. Tottington A just had the beating of Whitefield BC 5-3 with Roy Capron taking the fourth 81-42.

Walshaw won a tight match at Walmersley 6-3. Walshaw danger man Stevie Brookes continued his fine form taking the final frame 62-29.
