Radcliffe Boro physio Ronnie Evans believes the side have the capability to climb up the Evo-Stik Division One North table in the new year.

With just one win in their last five, the Stainton Park side are looking to find some form sooner rather than later and push themselves away from the relegation zone.

The club’s fortunes have not been helped by a number of injuries to key players, and Evans thinks that once manager Kevin Glendon has a full crop to select from, the results will start to improve.

“It has been tough with the injuries this year. We have been really unlucky and we have been missing some key players in key areas where we don’t have the depth that other teams may be have.

“We have lost two of our top defenders, Danny Lambert and Sam Grimshaw, and it is difficult for us to lose two players like that at the same time.” Eighteen-year-old former Manchester City and Barnsley full-back Kenna Ngoma, pictured below, had a good debut – filling in at left-back against Farsley recently and Evans said: “The lads who have come in have done well, but it will keep everyone fresh once we have everyone back.”

Despite sitting just one point above the bottom two going into the festive period, Evans believes once Boro find the form that has eluded them this season, then there will be no stopping Glendon’s side.

“I really believe once the starting 11 are fit and back playing well, we will be fine. “If there is any chance of us making a few additions and bulking up the squad, then we could quite easily push into mid-table, maybe even trouble the play-off positions if we can put a run together.” said Evans.

The physio believes the team will be relishing the next two games, which see Boro return home against sides around them in the table.

Burscough and Cammell Laird are the next to visit, on December 26 and December 28 respectively. He added: “They are really important games, and it’s better for us both are at home. It will give everyone a lift and we will be looking for some good results in both.

“We obviously prefer playing the teams around us, because on our day, we feel we can beat anyone in our area. “We have to look at games like these and approach them in the right way. “We know it is difficult against the teams who are a bit higher up who have a bit more quality, as well as the teams who have more money and available than we do.”
