JON Macken aims to build Radcliffe FC into a club that commands respect.

The Neuven Stadium side have started the season in impressive form with five straight victories.

Their goals tally of 16 for and just a solitary one against illustrates how convincing they have been in those victories which include four in EvoStik West and one in the FA Cup.

Macken will not get carried away by the good start, not least because the memory of last season's struggles in the league will still be too fresh to be erased.

But the former Manchester City striker, who is in his first full season as a manager, is happy the winning start is setting the club on the way to being regarded how he wants.

He said the club is developing a winning feeling which is becoming infectious.

"Everyone associated with the football club has that winning feeling," he told the club.

"You can feel that buzz before you step out on to the pitch.

"It's a winning mentality and a winning football club, and that's what we are trying to bring.

"It's what we have been trying to build since I came in last season. We've been trying to get a team together who have got that winning mentality.

"That then brings the club mentality to change into a club where we are respected wherever we go, on and off the pitch.

"That's because we put in a good honest performance and treat the place we visit, or our home ground, with respect."

Radcliffe welcome Stalybridge Celtic, who are one division above them in EvoStik Premier, to the Neuven Stadium on Saturday in the FA Cup first qualifying round.
