RADCLIFFE go into Saturday’s all-important home clash with Runcorn Linnets rested and ready to go, says Scott Metcalfe.

The in-form wide man has bagged four goals in his last six games to earn February’s player-of-the-month award, and feels Jon Macken’s men are hitting their peak at exactly the right time.

Last weekend’s game at Colne was postponed because of the weather, leaving a full week to prepare for a meeting between the teams second and third in the Evo-Stik West table and separated only by goal difference.

Victory could close the gap on leaders Atherton Colls and Metcalfe is excited by the dressing room Macken has assembled since arriving at the club in the summer.

“I feel the whole team have been in great form this month, all working hard for each other,” he said. “We have some massive games coming up, but we are absolutely feeling confident and looking forward to them.

“There are so many leaders in the squad, so no one really lets anyone slack or drop their levels. The new lads the club brought in, plus the lads from last season, made a good, solid squad.”

Metcalfe has played as a winger and a full-back this season and has chipped in with a solid seven goals and 13 assists during that time.

“Getting a few goals this season is more of a personal bonus,” he said. “It’s something I'll look to continue for the rest of the season, but, yeah, I’ve played a few different positions this season.

"Even though I’ve always been on the left, I don’t mind what position I play really. I’m more than happy to play anywhere if it’s to help the team win.”
