Ramsbottom United’s joint managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley have quit the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium to take on the management role at Evo-Stik Division One North high flyers Salford City.
The duo, alongside Rams coach Glenn Moses, will link up with former Manchester United legends and Salford City owners Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Neville brothers, Gary and Phil, at Moor Lane following Phil Power's departure in what Johnson described as an "opportunity too good to turn down."
Power, who spent 18 months as Salford boss leading them to third in the table, left the club with immediate effect on Friday with City having won just seven of their last 20 league fixtures.
The Class of '92 moved swiftly to appoint the Rams duo as joint managers with Moses acting as their assistant.
Johnson and Morley, who both spent time at the Ammies during their playing careers, were in their sixth season at the club, having taken over the reins in the North West Counties League. After two high finishes (fourth and second), promotion was gained in their third season, and during their first campaign in Evo-Stik North, they missed the play-off places by one point.
Last season saw the club gain their second promotion in three years, with a thrilling play-off success at Bamber Bridge, to move the club up to the highest level in it’s history.
The Rams, who are currently in mid-table in Evo-Stik Premier, have moved swiftly to appoint popular club legend, Jon Robinson, as their new manager.
Robinson has been with the Rams for six seasons, and earlier this year celebrated scoring 100 goals for the team.
