Bury FC Women came away from Poulton Vics with a well deserved point on Sunday .

Bury started the game brightly and dominated the opening exchanges with Murron Aldread and Georgia Payton causing constant problems for the home team.

That dominance was rewarded on 12 minutes when Sinead Nugents excellent through ball released Payton who squared the ball for Ava Hanson to tap into an empty net.

However, the Shakers were dealt a blow on 17 minutes when keeper Gracie Naggs was forced off with an injury and was replaced in goal by striker Jade Parker.

The break in play due to the injury seemed to nullify Bury's momentum and Poulton started to slowly come into the game with Parker making a good save in the 30th minute.

Bury still continued to be a big threat and should have doubled their lead but Murron Aldread struck the post when it looked like she was going to score.

The weather took a turn for the worst in the second half and favoured Poulton with a strong wind behind them.

Bury's defence was still rarely troubled but a freak cross/shot from the touchline found the top corner with the keeper helpless and Poulton got an equaliser they didn’t deserve.

Bury came on strong the last 20 minutes but unfortunately couldn’t find the goal to give them the victory their performance deserved.

The draw extends Bury's unbeaten streak to three games and will go into next Sunday's FA Cup game against Darwen full of confidence.
