Bury FC fans who are unhappy with the club’s management have begun a petition to call for a special general meeting.
The online petition was started four days ago and currently has 53 signatures.
Fans have started it because they say the current management of the football club is ‘falling short’ of their expectations as a fan-owned club and they feel they are owed ‘transparency’ and ‘honesty’.
This comes after the news on December 14 that Michael Jolley was relieved of his duties as manager by mutual consent just 48 hours after being appointed.
The decision came following backlash from supporters after the former Grimsby Town and Barrow boss was named as Dave McNabb’s successor at Gigg Lane.
Assistant manager Tim Lees is continuing to manage the team on an interim basis.
The petition reads: “As devoted supporters and members of the Football Supporters’ Society of Bury Ltd, we share a deep-rooted passion for our beloved club, Bury FC.
“We are a fan-owned club, which means transparency, openness, and honesty should be the cornerstone of all operations.
“Unfortunately, many of us feel that the current management is falling short of these expectations.
“As such, we urge action to ensure our club is run with the excellence and integrity it deserves.

“Our concern centers on the pressing need for transparency and democratic engagement.
“We, as stakeholders, should have the power to influence and guide the club's future. Therefore, we are calling for a Special General Meeting (SGM).
“An SGM is a crucial step toward allowing members to democratically decide the future direction of the Society, aligning it with the interests and voices of its supporters.
“It is through such mechanisms that we can foster a culture of participation, ensuring the club's decisions reflect our collective vision.”
It goes on to say the petition is not a formal vote but a call for members to support the formal requisition for an SGM under the Society’s rules.

The petition ends: “Sign this petition to advocate for a Special General Meeting and to support the call for accountability and transparency.
“Together, we can guide Bury FC towards a future that respects the voice of its fans.”
