DJ Pedro says he has ‘nothing but love’ for Bury FC after joining Southport on loan until the end of the season - with Mo Touray moving in the opposite direction on a permanent deal.
Both deals were completed late last week with Touray making his Shakers debut as a second half substitute in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Avro at Gigg Lane.
Pedro, who has expressed his desire to test himself at a higher level, will be hoping to make his debut for the National League North side at Bedford Town on Saturday.
On his departure, Pedro shared a message with the Bury fanbase:
“Nothing but love for Bury FC. The fans, the staff, the lads – you made this a special place for me and I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity.
“Now it’s time for a new challenge on loan higher up, but Bury will always have my respect.
“Thank you for everything.”
Manager Tim Lees said: “Whenever a club comes in for any of our players, whether it’s they’ve got seven days in, or whether it’s one of the contracted lads, I’m always honest with the player. I’ll always tell them and be transparent.
“DJ expressed an interest in wanting to speak to Southport and then a few days later it was agreed. So there was a few things around the deal that we wanted, Touray coming in for us, we felt as if it would be an excellent transfer, an excellent deal for us, and it’s worked out well.
“So he goes with our blessing, obviously within the loan there are certain things that work really well for us which will remain confidential but, overall, it’s the right thing for both clubs.”
