Anthony Johnson is excited about what Bury’s new signings will bring as the Shakers aim to maintain top spot in the run-in.
Johnson added midfielder Louis White and forward Tom Carr to his squad before the registration deadline in non-league.
White joins from Ashton United. He started out in Rochdale’s Academy and also had spells at Hyde United, Wythenshawe Amateurs, Glossop North End, Halifax Town and Marine, winning promotion to the National League North with the latter.
“Louis is a player I’ve admired over the last few years,” Johnson told the club site. “Even as a young player at Glossop he was dominating at this level and was someone I was aware of.
“He was instrumental in Marine’s rise to the National League North, and again, we looked at signing him but missed out.
“It’s crazy to think he’s still only 25, and at 25 he’s not even hit the peak of his career. A powerful, athletic midfielder, and a left foot that gives us balance in midfield areas, especially since Leo (Graham) was recalled.
“With Bobby (Carroll) out injured, signing Louis gives us a big boost going into the last few games of the season and beyond.”
Carr joins from Chorley, where he has made 35 appearances since the start of the campaign.
He was a key part of Leek Town’s NPL West title-winning season in 2023/24 with 20 goal involvements and hit double figures for the Magpies in the National League North last term.
“I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Tom to Bury FC,” Johnson added. “He’s a player that has tormented me over the last couple of seasons whilst at Chorley, so I’m well aware of the qualities he brings to Gigg Lane.
“Once we knew he was available to bring in this week, it made perfect sense to do it now rather than get into a big game of tug-of-war in the summer with National League clubs all enquiring about him.
“He will fit perfectly into our system and will work really well with the other forwards we have in the squad. It’s a real coup for us to bring in a National League North striker of his calibre to the club”.
The Shakers also confirmed that Regan Riley has joined Stafford Rangers on loan for the remainder of the campaign in search of regular minutes after his spell out injured.
