An indie rock band wowed music lovers at a Bury town centre venue last night, Wednesday.

The Zutons played in front of hundreds in a sold out show at The Met in which they belted out tracks, including from their new album, "The Big Decider".

The band, who hail from Liverpool, released their debut album in 2004 before smash hits "Why Won't You Give Me Your Love?" and "Valerie" achieved success in the charts, both from their second album, "Tired of Hanging Around" in 2006.

The new album - the band's fourth - which was released on Friday, April 26, has been praised already and admiration from the audience for the new tracks was clear to see at the gig.

One reveller, who travelled from Liverpool and bought the new album on the day, said: "I thought the gig was absolutely amazing.

"They are so good, I have watched them years and years ago, went to all the gigs.

"It was amazing to see them again.

"I think the new album has some really good songs and I am looking forward to listening to it on the record player."

Ahead of the gig, they also signed copies of their new album at Wax and Beans record shop cafe on Market Street.

The shop's management were also helping with the gig at night.

Co-owner Ben Soothill added: "The gig was fabulous, what an unbelievable set of musicians, they are so talented."

The band has a number of gigs across the UK in the next few months before they take their music across the Atlantic and play in venues in Toronto, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco in September.

Legendary American record producer and guitarist Nile Rodgers and Ian Broudie, of The Lightning Seeds fame, teamed up with the band to produce the album.

In a recent video shared on X, Rodgers wished the band luck with the new release and said: "It was so awesome working with you and I can't wait to see you on the road, and I can't wait to get to the studio with you again."
